Research (N&A)

Near was sitting on the floor, surrounded by his toys. He was expecting files, and waiting on A, to fetch them to him.
She had been working there for a little while now, and he had to admit, she was good. She seemed to do everything he wanted, in the way he wanted, quickly.
He sat up, and looked around, before calling out her name.

He needed those recent files on Kira.

"A!" Angel heard his voice echo through the hallways.

She grunted as she carried a few files that Near was looking for. They were files and files that she had to get from their sister organization. The task force was another headquarters that dealt with the main Kira case. She didn't ask to be in either group, she just happened to find herself being asked to perform the duty she was trained to do. That's when she left her old university days to go back and become A.

"Coming" she called out the empty hallway.

It was so cold, always so brightly lit, all sterile and white. Yet when she reached his office, it was dark and only certain lights hitting the area. With a small grunt, she threw the files on the desk and stretched waiting for him to tell he what else he wanted.

He looked up as she entered his room, motioning for the files to be put down beside him. He barely cast a glance at her, and grunted his thank you; before turning to look at her.

"I'm curious, A," he spoke quietly, turning back to his assortment of toys "What's your take on this case, so far?"

He began to flick through the files; barely looking up "I see L is keeping Light Yagami under surveillence...his number one suspect."

Angel sighed.

'Oh of course he'd be no help she thought growling,

As he went through the files, she leaned against the desk and sighed. The office was dark as usual, and no one was there. They all got the day off, not her though, oh now she was stuck here until he told her it was okay. That was how he was, he clung to her to the very last minute, then he would push her away telling her that her thinking was too loud.

"Well I agree that Light is a suspect in L's perspective, but, but I think that there's two Kiras, simply because the signature is not the same."

Near stopped. How hadn't he thought of that? He turned to her, rising suddenly from his place on the floor; his grey eyes filled with a slight excitement.

"A, you're brilliant!" he almost leapt from foot to foot "A copycat Kira...perhaps someone who idolizes the real Kira, and who maybe is trying get close to Kira! Perhaps someone who thinks Kira did them a favour?"

Angel nodded scared of the outburst. Near had changed so much from who he was before. Sometimes he'd be quiet, other times he would burst into energy, other times he'd follow her around asking to be entertained. He was so different from the young boy who loved dice and legos.

Being called brilliant made her cheeks reddened. Long ago, she would have sputtered, or even feel faint. Long ago she was infatuated with him, because he was the quiet artistic person. But now, now she was older, she would not be that weak. Right?

"Perhaps" she trailed off. "That's brilliant actually, why do you think that?"

"The videos...It's come to me as you said that..." he paced back and forth in front of her "the signatures are different..."

The stopped in front of her, looking her dead in the eyes "Original Kira needed a face and a name...New Kira just needs a face. This new Kira has something on the orignal Kira, which I think he's going to need..."

"I really don't know what I'd do without you," he smiled slightly "Now, is there any updates that could help us with this theory, A?"

Near was way too close to her. Her cheeks became even redder and she found herself leaning back against the table. She could no longer take any step back because of the desk. Taking in a shaky breath she let out a tiny smile. She avoided eye contact, his grey eyes were so bright, and she often times got distracted or skittish when he stared at her intensely.

"Well" she said taking in a deep breath. "if Light is the main suspect, then there is a new person. Misa Amane, has been seen around Kanto University. Could she possibly have to do anything?"

He began to pace back and forth again "She did come out, saying she supported Kira!"

"Yagami and Amane met very suddenly...Yagami is L's top suspect...there's something more to this, than we think, Angel, there's something more...Amane works in TV...those videos were shown on Sakura TV..."

"I believe...Amane may be the second Kira...but how does she do it differently to the first Kira?"

Angel wrinkled her nose, thinking about exactly how Misa Amane could do it. Angel had seen a few episodes of Misa Amane's show (when she wasn't in school) and it was clear that the girl was not that bright, at all actually. In fact, she was as stupid as stupid came. Sighing she leaned back, forgetting their small gap.

Hopping to take a seat on his desk she began to think exactly how would a new kira kill.

"Well, we know they need a name and a face, what's so different this time? So much for justice if they are killing innocent police officers and L. Lind Taylor" she scoffed.

"The second Kira seems to have no respect for justice...but doesn't need a name; just a face. Remember Sakura TV? That member of the Task Force; his name was never mentioned, but Kira still killed him."

Near stopped, and stroked his chin, trying to make sense of it all.

"Could Kira be testing this new Kira? If it is indeed, Amane, then he could be training her...how often does Yagami see her, A?"

Angel pulled a file electronically and projected it on the opposing wall. There were candid shots of both Misa Amane and Light Yagami. She flipped through each and all of them, so he could see.


"Based on this, she heads there to his home, around once a week, but more often than not he goes to her penthouse. Both seem to be very normal in public appearances, but other than that, we don't know anything else. If they both are Kira, then this would be a likely thing, except, would her IQ be enough to be Kira?"
