DeathNote ff: The Legacy of L

part one...
~PROLOGUE~

It was a pleasant day in Japan.Years have passed since Kira's reign of terror was brought to an end. People have started to forget the name of their false god and crime has, just as before Kira came into existance, become an everyday occurance. Boring would be the word some would use to describe it, however, as for Nate (or Near) and Angel River, they will never forget the Kira incident for the rest of their lives...

~SHINIGAMI REALM~

In the world covered in rust, ash, and bone, a lone shinigami sat under a withering, old tree. His horrific, mask-like face, watched down into the dark void leading into the human world.
His sinister yellow eyes, transfixed on his prey, a young man by the name of James Tomczak. He seemed in his mid teens.
The shinigami named Kuro opened his deathnote. He despised humans. To him, they are merely cattle for shinigami to thrive upon, killing them and adding their remaining lifespans for themselves. It was all Kuro truely enjoyed. The only thing that matched Kuro's deep rooted hatred for humans and love of killing them, was his, just as extreme, hatred for other shinigami. All they do is either nap or gamble.
To him, they are more worthless than the damn humans. Kuro pressed his pen to a page of his deathnote, when, a fellow shinigami who was known as Gukku, spoke to him.
"Heh heh. You are such a suck up, Kuro. Don't work yourself so hard."He kackled as he nudged Kuro's shoulder, forcing Kuro to accidentally drop his note. Kuro reached out to catch it but was too slow, as the deathnote fell through the dark void and landed in the human world, right in front of his would be victim, James. Kuro cursed to himself and became furious. He had no choice now.
He had to go into the world that belongs to the humans which he so despised.

James was a young, good looking, red headed seventeen year old, who always thought that the world was falling apart. That people who don't contribute to making it a better place, deserve to die. He thought about this ever sice his brother was killed in that brutal mugging. Scum like that deserves to be erased from existance. James was pondering that exact topic on his way home from school when, a red notebook fell from the sky and landed on the pavement just at the head of the driveway, leading up to his home. James rushed over and picked it up. From his curiousity, he flipped through it. On the front page it read: James T
James figured it meant the notebook was intended for him. He flipped through a few more pages.
Upon reaching the back, he read words that were of great interest of him-
The human who's name is written in this notebook shall die...
